- The mausoleum was designed by a young architect Mr. Lu Yanzhi via global open bidding. Lu worked so hard and died before the construction was completed. His masterpiece -the main building- is located on a north-south axis with 12 platforms and 392 steps representing 392,000,000 Chinese population at that era. When standing on the bottom and looking up, you can only see 392 steps while 12 platforms are totally invisible. Conversely, when standing at the top and looking down, you can only see 12 platforms with 392 steps totally disappearing. This is the designer’s original creation to prove this mausoleum to be one of the masterpieces in the world architectural history.
